Welcome to Model Builders!

I'm Marc - a filmmaker, photographer, and long-time model builder. I created this site as a way of sharing some of my models, photography, and short films, and also to have a place to post tutorials, how-tos, and works-in-progress. I will be adding lots of content over the next few weeks and months, including high defintion video of some of my tips and techniques, kit reviews, and model show coverage, so stay tuned!

I've been a model builder all my life, starting waaaay back in the mid-1960s with Aurora monsters and AMT 3-in-1 car kits. I rediscovered the joy of the craft when I took my young son to a hobby shop one day about fifteen years ago and picked up a Corvette kit for us to work on together. Check this circa 1967 photo - taken with my Brownie camera - of my very first contest award, from Jean's Model Shop in Houston. As you can see, I was building cars and photographing them from an early age.

I am also a filmmaker, and own a high definition television production company just outside the gates of NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. We produce programming for the space industry and a wide variety of other clients.

We produce live events, awards shows, and concerts across the country, and our work has appeared on the major television networks, CNN, PBS, and the Discovery Channel.

Although I love my job, my passion is modeling. Over the last decade, I have written feature articles for Model Cars magazine, Scale Auto, and Fine Scale Modeler. I wrote the Bench Racer and High Octane columns for Scale Auto for the last four years, but I am most proud of my recent invitation to joint the staff at Amazing Figure Modeler!
